Gorgeous Prince George
William, Kate and George are in New Zealand at the moment and looks like they are having a great time. Then they are coming to Australia, not sure where or what they will be doing but we are looking forward to the visit. Prince George is such a cutie.

Re: Gorgeous Prince George
Oooh, yes, I am hoping to possibly catch a glimpse of them tomorrow, as they'll be in the same city as me. If I can be bothered braving the crowds. I actually feel like I've been stalking them around the country for the past week or so due to my job, haha. In particular, I overnighted in a hotel the other night that was directly across the road from where they'd been a few hours earlier. Too slow! I am quite taken with Kate and Wills, although I am not really a royalist. It's nice that they've continued the tradition of bringing the royal newborn down here. William, Charles, and even the Queen, I believe, were all brought down to NZ (not sure about Australia) by their parents when they were very young. It's just a shame about the crappy weather they've had pretty much the whole time they've been here. We had lovely weather until they arrived! They will be looking forward to some Aussie sunshine. Are they visiting anywhere near where you live, Sunflowerpixie?

Well I am really irked with them for not coming to the states near me. Please find them and tell them that Safari... <g>
I am not a royalist but I remember being very concerned for William when his mom died and I think it is great that thing have turned out so well for them. Gives me hope.

Re: Gorgeous Prince George
Well, I saw them. And got some reasonable photos. Took a video too, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. They were further away at that point. I was pretty much at the front of the crowd, which was weird because I thought people would be camping out there for hours (some apparently did, but there weren't as many people there as I expected, maybe because it was a Monday and it was cold). I only turned up about 45 minutes before they were due to arrive. And then they were really late. And I almost missed my flight home because I wasn't going to get that close and then not see them! They had been walking alongside the crowd to start with, talking to people, but just before they got to where we were about five sets of very young twins were let into the enclosure to see them, and so that was the end of the meet and greet pretty much. They carried on walking down the path in the middle of the park and played some cricket with some kids at the end.
BW, yes, I think William has turned out very well considering the loss of his mother. I think her early influence had a big impact.

I had to chuckle at Prince George's first appearance of a lifetime of appearances...the playdate, while still in diapers! He is quite cute. I think that is so cool that you got so close Safari! I was imagining there would be hordes of crowds and you wouldn't be able to get so close.

Yeah, I was surprised at the lack of crowds. I guess this is NZ...we are fairly small, population-wise. But if it was a weekend I imagine there would have been a lot more people.
It was pretty cool that Prince George got to make his first official appearance down here....I didn't realise that we hadn't really seen much of him up until now, actually. I don't really follow them that closely, though.

Re: Gorgeous Prince George
I wondered if you would get to see them Safari. Glad you did. I saw a picture of Kate playing cricket in heels. They seem to be getting quite into it with the people.
I think they touch down briefly in Brisbane and that is the closest they will be to me, so won't get to see them. They arrive here on Wednesday, I think. They will mainly be based in Sydney and Canberra and will be in Canberra for ANZAC day. I think they are going out to Ayres Rock too.
They must put a lot of thought into planning for these visits. I noticed with Kate's clothes some had a kiwi theme with the silver fern on her dress which was nice. So it will be interesting to see what she comes up with over here. Something with a koala or kangaroo on maybe.
Charles & Diana bought William here when he was nine months old and George is the same age.

That's where I saw them -- I got her on video playing cricket, and a photo of Wills batting. And yes, Kate has been quite thoughtful with her clothes. I loved the black dress with the silver fern, and yesterday in Christchurch she was wearing red and black, which is the region's official colours. They were touring the earthquake damage (the central city is still pretty much closed and the rebuild hasn't really started yet) and meeting the families of those killed that day, so it was a nice touch. They have promised to come back and check on the progress of the city.
I will look forward to seeing what Kate wears in Oz! It actually hadn't occurred to me that they would be down in this part of the world for ANZAC Day. That was well timed. Shame you won't get a chance to see them. They have had a free day here today, and tomorrow they have one or two more official engagements before flying out.

Hmm that is interesting about Kate wearing the regional colours etc. I think that is a nice touch. She wore a maple leaf hat and pin when they were in Ottawa on Canada Day a couple years ago: http://www.celebuzz.com/2011-07-01/kate-middletons-canada-day-maple-leaf-hat-photos/

Re: Gorgeous Prince George
Wow, that is an awesome hat! It is really cool how she tailors her outfit to the occasion. I see she was wearing a yellow/gold dress for her arrival in Australia today (Aussie national colours). I also see that they stepped off the plane in Sydney to brilliant sunshine....the weather here in NZ was just embarrassing, to be honest. I can't remember the last time I saw the sun for more than five minutes -- it's just been horribly rainy and depressing pretty much the whole time they've been here and we're meant to get more heavy rain tomorrow and through Easter. April is normally still fairly settled weather, so it's a real shame.

Re: Gorgeous Prince George
Luna, loved the maple leaf hat. Our Aussie colours are Green and Gold and Wattle is our floral emblem which is yellow.
We have sent what was left of Cyclone Ita down your way now Safari, so sorry about that. She hit the north Qld coast last week and caused quite a bit of damage but not as bad as was expected. It started of as a Category 5 but weakened when it crossed the coast.
I think George is off to the zoo and the Bilby enclosure in the next few days and is getting a Bilby named after him. Bilbys are cute little creatures with big ears and are on the endangered species list. You can buy chocolate bilbys instead of bunnys here for Easter, a fund raising event. I always got my kids bilbys when they were little.

Thanks for posting the photos. Looks like Prince George is trying to cop a feel in some of them haha.
Safari, I saw your pics on FB, I was shocked how close you were able to get to them.
Maybe they will visit DC soon.

That's really interesting Luna. I didn't know there had been children's books published about bilbys. I will have to check them out as I like giving the grandkids books.

Lol, I hadn't seen those pics - thanks for sharing, BW! I do wonder what they will do with all these gifts. Give some of them away to children in need, I guess.

Ah, I did hear about that cyclone in Queensland but it didn't occur to me that it would hit us after you...and our weather watch media people didn't really warn us how bad it was going to be. "A bit of rain this Easter", they said. Oh my gosh, it has done so much damage. I might post about it in a more private forum later because I am feeling rather out of sorts at the moment, due to some issues it caused for me yesterday.
Anyway, thanks for sending that horrible thing our way!
I thought I knew about most of the Aussie critters, but can't say I have ever heard of a bilby! Looks cute!
